'A grave, a grave, to put these lovers in...' linocut print. Created initially as folk song inspired smaller print for the ballad Little Musgrave/Matty Groves as part of my Folk Song February project. This is a larger version of the linocut print from a new carving.
The song is a 17th Century ballad of high pomp, concupiscence and - well - cuckolding with a rather grisly end but the lovers do get buried together.
I'm sure they were thrilled.
Printed on Ho Sho Japanese paper with Caligo oil-based ink. The paper measures 22cm x 35cm and the edition is 60.
Each print may vary ever-so slightly as they are printed by hand.
