The Wicker Man linocut print

£75.00 / Sold Out

'The Wicker Man' linocut print was a private commission for a client but we decided to make a small edition. It draws on the imagery of Robin Hardy's folk horror masterpiece 'The Wicker Man' (1973) including the masked townsfolk, the flag of Summerisle, little Rowan the hare and the hand of glory. We were attempting to capture the colours of the era in the palette so it has a very 1970s look about it.

It's a six colour reduction linocut print measuring approximately 36cm x 50 cm printed on Zerkall printmaking paper (150gsm) with Caligo oil-based ink in an edition of ten. A small signature and edition number can be found underneath each print.

Each print may vary slightly as they are printed by hand. It's all part of the charm of linocut printmaking but this was a particularly difficult print session with more faults than usual and this is reflected in the price (and the edition size!). There are small printing issues throughout the run, for example looser registration on certain sections and tiny unwanted ink marks in the borders etc. That said I've fastidiously gone through each print to make sure they are worthy of display. You can see a few of the issues in the accompanying photos but if in doubt email me for specifics or photos.
